Qpal Q&A

Name? Matthew Gordon

Job Title? Marketing Director

Fun Fact? Bob Marley’s last words to his son before he died were “Money can’t buy life.”

1.What song best describes you in the workplace?

Tubthumping – Chumbawumba

2.What was your earliest live event experience?

I remember being dragged to the Singing Kettle in Primary School at the age of 6, absolute torture for a young boy!

3.Who was your idol growing up?

Growing up I can remember thinking Liam and Noel Gallagher were the coolest rockstars on the planet – not much has changed!

4.Talk to me about your music taste? Are you a Techno Viking, Real OG, Indie Cindy or a 90’s pop icon?

Most people that know me will tell you I have an eclectic taste in music so I probably fall under all the categories above. Currently loving Agnes Obel, Nicole Moudaber, MIST and Diet Cig.

5.What is your guilty pleasure?

Backstreet Boys ‘I want it that way’, a 90’s classic and my go to for Karaoke!

6.What is your favourite live event moment?

Aberdeen winning the League Cup, Stone Roses Reunion Tour or Hot Since 82 closing Space Terrace – All of these give me goosebumps!

7.What is your funniest live event experience?

Every year at T in the Park there were incidents, some I can’t really speak about in public. I’ve seen a portaloo being pushed over with someone inside, that’s probably the funniest and most disgusting experience I’ve seen at a live event.

8.What is your ultimate live event hit list?

For anyone who hasn’t experienced Ibiza, it is a must for the Techno Vikings. I went to Kappa Festival in July, 2017 and it was one of the best organised festivals I have ever been to. Sonar, Glastonbury and the World Cup are on my live event hit list for next year!

9.Where can we find you at the weekend in Dubai?

After nearly three years in Dubai and one too many brunches, I try to avoid the 4 hour eating and drinking sessions as much as possible. Blue Marlin, El Chiringuito and Zero Gravity are my preferred party venues!
